September 27, 2019: Today, New York singer-songwriter Raveena released her Amazon Original cover of “Lovers Rock” by Sade, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
“Sade’s timeless and sensual sound has always been a big influence on my music,” says Raveena, “Covering one of my favorite songs by her, ‘Lovers Rock,’ was such a delight.”
Raveena first debuted in 2017 with her EP Shanti which Pitchfork called “radiant” and Harper’s Bazaar called “sublime.” She’s been described by The Fader as having a “voice like liquid gold” and NPR Music described her sound as “comforting but nuanced, balancing cultures old and new by mashing up contemporary R&B with traditions from the South Asian diaspora.” Earlier this year she released her full length debut Lucid via Moonstone Recordings. A standout track from the album ‘Stronger’ has even been featured in The New York Times and The Fader while Pitchfork said the song ‘Petal’ “ends the album on a euphoric note, wrapping layered vocals into a cocoon that’s delicate and full like a peony bloom.”
